Title: Software Engineer -New Product Development
Location: Atlanta 

Our Atlanta based Fortune 500 client seeks a a Software Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance of existing products while participating in new product development (NPD) projects as part of a cross-functional team.  Travel up to 10% may be required.  This position will:

  • Contribute to engineering efforts on NPD projects from conception through production launch, while following Newell Rubbermaid’s Product Development Process 
  • Ensure the product meets or exceeds expectations from a cost, timing, and specification standpoint 
  • Require the ability to work effectively with other disciplines including Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain

Job Responsibilities by Capability:

Business Acumen – 10%

  • Identifies cost and risks at the component and sub-assembly level to meet defined cost targets.
  • Develops the analysis of how sub-assembly level decisions impact the overall business strategy to facilitate design-for-cost.

Technical Leadership – 10%

  • Provides routine engineering, working autonomously on project teams with little to no guidance from more Senior Engineers to deliver well-engineered products.
  • Reviews relevant competitive products to provide benchmarking and analysis of technical specifications.

Problem Solving – 30%

  • Implements existing technologies on a project level to deliver products.
  • Uses a disciplined approach and the appropriate methodology to analyze and determine the preferred solution to technical challenges.
  • Analyzes test results to provide data for use in solving problems.
  • Develops optimal product test plans to validate design.

Communication – 20%

  • Summarizes complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience to gain alignment.
  • Recommends and presents solutions and opportunities in forums to encourage ideation and technical sharing.
  • Generates questions to validate the understanding of the subject matter to facilitate team member understanding.

Organizational Agility – 10%

  • Participates in cross-functional teams to work seamlessly across disciplines as required to execute product initiatives.
  • Incorporates consumer and market insights to drive innovation and project execution.

Technical Mastery – 20%

  • Provides intermediate knowledge and demonstrated practice of Software Design and best practices to contribute to Software Development Projects.
  • Completes small/medium complexity features and bug fixes with some oversight to deliver new functionality and improve product quality.
  • Executes competency in necessary programming languages to perform tasks.
  • Investigates and resolves production/field issues to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Reviews and contributes to test plans to improve test comprehensiveness.
  • Develops test specifications for isolated modules to ensure product quality.
  • Provides Level 2 engineering support to improve customer satisfaction.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree required
  • 2-5 years of Software Development experience in C# required
  • Demonstrates practice of Software Design, Development, and best practices.
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
  • Demonstrates fluency in English
  • Acts as a highly self-motivated and detail oriented player
  • Acts as a strong team player
  • Knowledge of Xamarin development a plus
  • Knowledge of Windows desktop application development (.NET WPF/Windows Forms) a plus
  • Experience in development of Mobile applications for iOS and/or Android a plus
  • Experience developing on Mac OSX and/or Linux a plus
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum/TDD development methodologies a plus
