Job Description for Mechanical Design Engineer:

The Mechanical Design Engineer provides judgment, analysis and direction in the development and launch of new products, systems, and technologies. This individual is competent across the product line including polymer pressure vessel design, manifold design, and filtration, and possesses a solid comprehension of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. This role reports to the Engineering Manager but works independently, relying on experience to plan and accomplish goals. The position provides great scope to learn and develop for someone hungry to grow their career.

  • Independently design products or systems
  • Research and develop new technologies
  • Independently develop technical, product, component and process specifications
  • Independently analyze design problems and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Technically competent in the understanding and application polymer pressure vessel and joining and sealing methods
  • Possess a solid knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, and ensure that products meet the required specifications
  • Independently design test fixtures for new product or component validation and or production
  • Independently develop and carry out test procedures for evaluating the integrity of a product or system
  • Interface with other departments to bring complex products into production
  • Develop and maintain bills-of-materials and other engineering documentation
  • Develop and present comprehensive, accurate and detailed technical reports supporting testing or analytical analyses
  • Supervise the work of drafters and lab technicians
  • Perform tolerance analyses, knowing when to utilize worst case or process capability data.


  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters of Science in Engineering a plus
  • 2 or more years of experience working in manufacturing, mechanical, automotive or consumer products industries
  • 2 or more years of experience creating complex 3-D models/assemblies, and accurately detailed 2-D drawings (with GD&T) using Creo, Solidworks, or similar software.
  • Able to perform and utilize mechanical design hand calculations (material stress, deflection, forces, moments, fluid flow rates, pressure, O-ring squeeze) for upfront analyses to quickly guide the direction of design work.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the application of FEA & CFD to drive design decisions using ANSYS for similar software
  • Comprehensive understanding and utilization of best design practices for an extensive range materials and fabrication processes encompassing: injection molding, blow-molding, thermoforming, casting, machining, forming, bending, spin welding, ultrasonic welding, hot plate welding, pad printing, etc.
  • Proficient in the functional specification of mechanical & electromechanical components including: pumps, valves, O-rings/seals, tubing/plumbing, solenoids, motors, etc.
  • Accreditation in DFSS and DFM is desired
  • Up to 20% travel

Highly Desired:

  • Master’s of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Accreditation in DFSS and DFM is desired.
  • 1 year of experience using ANSYS software or FEA a benefit
