Job Description

Seeking a capable, motivated System Administrator to provide system and network support activities at our Kentucky location.  We run a fast-paced, casual facility in a supportive atmosphere.  As the primary IT staff member at this site, you’ll wear lots of hats and gain plenty of valuable experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and networking.

  • Respond to and resolve help desk tickets.

  • Install new / rebuild existing computers / servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible system or network intrusions.

  • Monitor daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

  • Install / configure / replace networking equipment when required.

  • Monitor network performance, troubleshooting problems when they occur.  Escalate issues to vendor when necessary.

  • Maintain Active Directory and user accounts.

  • Provide support per request from various users.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

  • Conduct ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.  Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

  • Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.

  • Minimal Travel required to visit other company locations (less than 10%)
