Job Description


To be successful in the Flood Specialist I role, candidates must have the ability to consistently display a strong work ethic, answer and resolve incoming requests from customers and ensure that issues are resolved correctly, promptly, and thoroughly.  They also must be able to provide courteous and professional service to internal and external customers, act with integrity and have a commitment to customer satisfaction, work effectively within a team environment and consistently display excellent verbal and written communication skills.  A Flood Specialist I should also be able to exercise sound judgment in decision making as well as handle a fast-paced, high-volume working environment.


Flood Specialist 1 teammates are accountable for:

  1. Successfully completing training in general insurance and flood insurance topics, and apply the knowledge gained, such as:
    1. Basic insurance terms and concepts.
    2. Flood Insurance coverage forms.
    3. Flood zones and flood zone determination.
    4. Flood policy types.
    5. Building and building occupancy types.
    6. Elevation Certificates
    7. Flood policy rating.
    8. New business processing.
    9. Endorsement processing.
    10. Cancellation processing.
    11. Premium refunds.

  1. All other duties as requested and/or assigned.


HS Diploma or equivalent.  AA Degree preferred but not required.  They must hold excellent written/oral communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with professionalism as a representative of the company. Efficiency in all Microsoft products (outlook, word, etc.) and web browsers is required. The ability to adapt to change, keep up to date on processing guidelines, FEMA updates, and attend continuing educational training  as necessary. Bi-Lingual is a plus but not required.
