Job Description for Buyer:
 

Possesses knowledge and experience in conducting analysis to determine the lowest cost supply options of raw materials and finished goods, lead negotiations that result in numerous cost savings contracts and the on-going identification of unrecognized areas of cost savings opportunities for existing products of supply as well as new product introductions.

  • Foster the growth of successful vendor partnerships.
  • Screen vendors and recommend or select suppliers as needed.
  • Participate in other inter-departmental teams working towards continuous process improvement, eliminating waste wherever and whenever possible.
  • Monitor performance metrics to ensure that Operations run smoothly; provide leadership with KPI and other reporting as needed; ensure that all reports are timely, accurate and presented in a logical and understandable format.
  • Negotiate best pricing, managing vendor delivery lead-times, and ensuring they are 95% or better on-time.
  • Identify and resolve potential sourcing problems early in the procurement cycle and implement contingency plans with Planning and Manufacturing when inventory availability commitments are at risk. Initiate work-around where possible.
  • Responsible for managing vendor relationships and surveillance in accordance with company QA policies and ensuring quality parts conform to company’s specified requirements.
  • Develop procedures to ensure a high level of communication and coordination occurs between Operations, R&D, Engineering, SIOP and Marketing functions.
  • Participate in engineering change, NPD and VA/VE activities to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow without disruption.
  • Complete purchase requests with suppliers by inputting purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying all transactions.
  • When required, coordinate with Logistics coordinator to provide transportation services and instructions for picking up and delivering orders.
  • All other duties assigned by your Supervisor

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of related experience and/or training in purchasing and inventory management in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient MS Office.
  • Proficient in Excel software
  • Knowledge of ERP based operating systems with the ability to execute MRP driven actions
  • 1 year of experience of High volume Production Purchasing experience
  • 1 year of experience of Experience negotiating with suppliers
  • 1 year of experience of Manufacturing Industry
  • 1 year of experience of Knowledge of / experience with Materials, Inventory, Supply Chain etc.

Highly Desired Experience:

  • Experience with SAP, Quickbooks and/or Sage
