Business Analyst – Denver, CO

Looking for a talented, experienced and self-directed Business Analyst to elicit and document requirements for medium to large challenging, mission-critical projects.  The projects vary from the implementation of vendor software systems, to the integration of multiple vendor systems with current architecture, to the development and deployment of custom software solutions.  The BA will work as the liaison between all of our business and technical partners to drive requirements gathering, assist with the design of the best technical solution, and facilitate the user acceptance testing processes. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as a liaison among diverse stakeholders to gather and document business, functional and non-functional requirements via individual interviews and group sessions.
  • Assist stakeholders and project leaders with negotiating and prioritizing requirements.
  • Conduct business and/or functional gap analyses through a detailed understanding of the current and future business processes, and application systems.
  • Participate in vendor identification and selection, including assessing and comparing various vendor solutions.
  • Write clear, concise and unambiguous requirements using Microsoft Word templates, including the identification of risks, assumptions, and definitions.
  • Identify detailed business rules for application processing logic.

Skills and Technologies:

  • Experience as a BA for the development and implementation of new applications, system enhancements or system maintenance
  • Experience writing business, functional and non-functional requirements
  • Experience with SDLC and both waterfall and agile/iterative development methodologies
  • Experience with system, process, and data flow modeling, preferably utilizing UML
  • Experience in writing user stories and/or fully dressed Use Cases
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Working knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of testing methodologies and/or experience in testing (black/white box, system integration, interface, etc.)
