Avionics Technician

The MSC Avionics Technician is responsible to the MSC Avionics Manager for providing avionics/electrical technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact, as per the Policy and Procedure Manual and the Repair station Manual. Demonstrate technical expertise by implementing process changes to reduce costs and meet schedules without compromising safety or quality.

*Must have the ability to perform installations, modifications, and line troubleshooting of corporate aircraft avionics systems like Collins, Honeywell, and/or Garmin.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Ensures all avionics activities adhere to the Repair Station Manual requirements.

- Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.

- Performs the installation and functionally testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals.

- Ensures quality and efficiency of all installations; troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.

- Demonstrates the skills and knowledge required to effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring.

- Perform and comply with engineering changes and modifications as required.

- Coordinate and communicate with Avionics Supervisor, Crew Chief, Quality Control Inspector and Product Support to ensure customer expectations and company goals are met.

- Tests and maintains all avionics test equipment, electronic systems, components and tools in a serviceable working condition, assuring that periodic operation of necessary test equipment, conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability, inspections, calibrations and checks are made on special tools and test equipment, and that current records are maintained of those tests and calibrations.

- Ensure that all necessary avionics entries on maintenance forms and work orders used by the Repair Station are properly executed and work is ready for inspection.

- Maintain the premises of the Avionics shop in a clean, safe, organized and professional manner.

- Ensure the proper handling and preservation of avionics parts and equipment.

- Ensure periodic inspection of and indoctrination of personnel in the training, location and proper operation and location of firefighting equipment, and checking periodically for serviceability and adequacy.

- Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs.

- Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.

- Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

- Demonstrates a professional positive attitude, especially under adverse situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Experience/Requirements Needed:

-5-10 years of avionics installation, modification &/or troubleshooting of corporate aircraft avionics systems like Collins, Honeywell, Garmin, etc.

-A&P License is preferred.

-Customer focuses on Gulfstream, Pilatus Aircraft, and other Corporate Aircraft.
